Teatar Ulysses stages Ronald Harwood’s “Na čijoj strani” in Croatia

Theatre Ulysses presented the premiere of the drama “Na čijoj strani” on the island of Mali Brijun, Croatia. The play, written by Oscar‑winning British playwright Ronald Harwood, examines the role of artists under political regimes through the post‑World War II denazification trial of Berlin Philharmonic conductor Wilhelm Furtwängler. The production is a co‑production of Theatre Ulysses and the Sarajevo War Theatre and is directed by Lenka Udovički.

The cast includes Alban Ukaj, who described the performance as reflecting a “schizophrenic reality” marked by ongoing wars in Gaza, Ukraine and Iran. Actors highlighted the play’s exploration of moral choices for artists in times of conflict, questioning whether neutrality is possible.
