Teatermaskinen marks retirement of Holm and Møller
The production ‘Teatermaskinen’ at the Royal Danish Theatre’s Skuespilhuset marks the retirement of director Staffan Valdemar Holm and scenographer Bente Lykke Møller after a 40-year professional partnership. The duo, who have collaborated on nearly 100 productions across countries including Denmark, Sweden, Germany, France, and Chile, concludes their career with this theatrical collage.
Performed on the large, bare stage of the Skuespilhuset, the production features a cast including Karen-Lise Mynster, Jens Albinus, Tina Gylling Mortensen, Olaf Johannesen, Stina Ekblad, and Nicolas Bro. The performance explores the essence of theatre through a mosaic of monologues and excerpts from major dramatists such as William Shakespeare, Aeschylus, August Strindberg, Molière, Euripides, and Anton Chekhov.
Avoiding traditional sets and props, the production focuses on the connection between the spoken word and the imagery it creates. It also references the legacy of Ingmar Bergman and the insights of Peter Brook, examining the power and mystery of the actor's craft.
