Teatro alla Scala presents 2026-2027 season in New York

Teatro alla Scala has selected New York for the second consecutive year to present its upcoming 2026-2027 season. The announcement took place at the Consulate General of Italy, highlighting the historical cultural ties between Milan and New York.

Superintendent and Artistic Director Fortunato Ortombina presented the new program alongside music historian Harvey Sachs and Milena Adamian, president of the Teatro alla Scala Association of America. The season is set to open with Giuseppe Verdi’s ‘Otello’, directed by the new musical director Myung-Whun Chung.

The upcoming schedule also features several works that have been absent from the Scala stage for some time, including Vincenzo Bellini’s ‘I puritani’ and Ferdinando Paer’s ‘Leonora’. The program will also include dedicated concert and ballet seasons as part of the theater's international programming.
