Teatro alla Scala to make LaScalaTV streaming platform free

Teatro alla Scala has announced that its streaming platform, LaScalaTV, will transition to a free service starting September 1. Following a period as a paid offering, the platform will now allow users to access its entire catalogue for free upon simple registration.

Supported by principal sponsor Intesa Sanpaolo, the move is part of a broader strategy by the Fondazione Teatro alla Scala to increase accessibility, share its cultural heritage, and encourage audience engagement. The platform utilizes nine remotely operated cameras in the Piermarini Theatre to provide high-quality live broadcasts of operas, ballets, and concerts.

Since its launch in 2023, LaScalaTV has built a substantial archive including 31 recent opera productions, 13 historic recordings, 8 ballets, and 26 concerts, alongside educational content. The catalogue features renowned performers such as Anna Netrebko and Riccardo Chailly, as well as historic recordings from conductors like Claudio Abbado and Riccardo Muti.
