Teatro Coccia presents micro-opera inspired by Mario Finotti photography
The Teatro Coccia in Novara is hosting the second installment of the “Io ne ho viste di cose” project, which transforms the photography of Mario Finotti into musical micro-operas. On November 5, the production “Ronzii e schiacciate” will be performed in two shows.
This specific opera is inspired by the photograph “Suor Giovanna icona del volley novarese,” celebrating the history of women's volleyball in the city. The project involves a collaboration between Finotti, writer Alessandro Barbaglia, and Maria Paola Colombo, with librettos created for young performers.
The performance format includes an introductory dialogue between Finotti and Barbaglia regarding the original image, followed by the musical representation, and a concluding discussion to bridge the theatrical fiction with historical reality. Musical direction is provided by Michelangelo Mattoli, leading the instrumental ensemble of the Guido Cantelli Conservatory. Spectators will experience the show in an immersive setting, seated directly on the stage near the artists.
