Teatro Colón streams free concert of resident orchestra online
On Saturday, 1 August, at 17:00 local time, the centennial Teatro Colón will broadcast a free live gala of its resident orchestra via its YouTube channel and social‑media platforms. The program includes Richard Strauss’s *Don Quijote* variations (Op. 35) and Gustav Holst’s *The Planets* (Op. 32). The concert is conducted by Alejo Pérez, the theatre’s music director, with French cellist Aurélien Pascal as soloist and Freddy Varela Montero serving as concertino. Alejo Pérez is internationally recognized, having worked at venues such as the Salzburg Festival, Vienna State Opera, and the Semperoper in Dresden.
