Teatro dei Barbuti to host Salerno Day commemoration

As part of the 41st edition of the Teatro dei Barbuti, the traditional “Salerno Day” event will return on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The event commemorates the historic Allied landings in Salerno on September 9, 1943.

The program includes the performance “I miei occhi mi lasciano partire, Gatto e Salerno” by Corradino Pellecchia, featuring Gaetano Fasanaro and musical commentary by Marida Niceforo and Daniela Somma. The performance will be preceded by a presentation of a docufilm about the poet Alfonso Gatto, directed by Marcello Napoli and starring Yari Gugliucci.

The musical reading aims to explore the life and poetry of the Salerno-born Alfonso Gatto, integrating Neapolitan classics and 20th-century songs to create a unified artistic experience.
