Teatro Diana to host new production of Otello

A new production of William Shakespeare’s “Otello” will debut at the Teatro Diana in Naples starting October 21, 2026. This version features dramaturgy by Dacia Maraini and scenic adaptation by Antonio Prisco.

Directed by Giorgio Pasotti, the production aims to provide a contemporary reading of the tragedy, focusing on psychological manipulation, prejudice against foreigners, and the oppression of female autonomy. The cast includes Giacomo Giorgio as Otello and Giorgio Pasotti as Iago, alongside Claudia Tosoni as Desdemona, Salvatore Rancatore as Cassio, and Diego Migeni as Roderigo.

The production is scheduled for a tour, beginning with a performance at the Teatro dei Marsi in Avezzano on October 18, followed by the Naples engagement. Future dates for 2027 include performances at Teatro La Fenice in Senigallia and the Teatro Ventidio Basso in Ascoli Piceno.
