Teatro do Silêncio to premiere new play in Lisbon

Teatro do Silêncio will premiere its new play, ‘As montanhas azuis estão sempre a caminhar’, on September 16 at the ZDB8 space in Marvila, Lisbon. The production is inspired by the work ‘The Living Mountain’ by Scottish novelist and poet Nan Shepherd.

Written during World War II, Shepherd’s work explores the relationship between the human imagination and the wild, focusing on the idea that a mountain is not merely a summit to be climbed, but a place to be entered. The play, directed by Maria Gil, will run at ZDB8 until September 26, with a subsequent performance scheduled for October 10 at the Teatro Municipal da Covilhã.

The production is a collaboration between Teatro do Silêncio, Negócio ZDB, and Teatro Municipal da Covilhã, with support from various local entities including the Lisbon City Council.
