Teatro Itaca Colonia Creativa to stage August Strindberg’s ‘The Pelican’

Teatro Itaca Colonia Creativa in Pomigliano d’Arco will open its new theatrical season on October 24 and 25 with a production of August Strindberg’s drama, ‘The Pelican’. Produced by COLONIAITACASRLS, the play is adapted and directed by Simone Somma, who performs alongside Sara Esposito and Germana Di Marino.

Set in early 20th-century Sweden, the play explores the crisis of family relationships. It follows the story of a mother who, despite appearing devoted, has neglected her children to prioritize her own well-being and mismanaged the family estate. Following the death of the father, her children, Fredrik and Gerda, uncover the truth behind her actions, leading to a dark and hallucinatory conclusion driven by selfishness and deception.
