Teatro Municipal de Maipú fire leaves three injured

A fire at the Teatro Municipal de Maipú has resulted in three injuries and significant structural damage. According to Fire Department Second Commander Francisco Marengo, the emergency involved approximately 175 firefighters. The casualties include two civilians—one with a hand laceration and another with oil burns from a food truck—and one firefighter who was injured during a structural collapse but is reported to be out of danger.

Maipú Mayor Tomás Vodanovic stated that very little can be salvaged from the interior of the building. The incident has prompted the municipality to review remodeling contracts for a project that was scheduled for completion in December. Due to the severity of the damage, Vodanovic indicated that demolition of the building may be recommended.
