Teatro Nacional D. Maria II reopens for new season

The Teatro Nacional D. Maria II in Lisbon is set to reopen for its new season with a production of Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’. This reopening coincides with the ongoing celebrations of the theater’s 180th anniversary, marking its history since its establishment in 1846.

September’s theatrical season in Portugal features several notable performances. In Porto, the play ‘Maiúscula’ by Jacinto Lucas Pires, directed by Marcos Barbosa, will feature actress Luísa Cruz in a monologue exploring themes of memory and aging. Additionally, Tiago Rodrigues will present ‘La Distance’ at Culturgest in Lisbon and the Centro Cultural Vila Flor in Guimarães.
