Teatro Piccolo Bellini hosts “Mare di ruggine” production

The production “Mare di ruggine”, written and directed by Antimo Casertano, is returning to the Teatro Piccolo Bellini in Naples from September 29 to October 11, 2026. Performed by the Compagnia Teatro Insania, the play follows a family saga spanning five generations, intertwining personal history with the industrial evolution of the Bagnoli area, specifically focusing on the transition from Ilva to Italsider.

The play explores themes of labor as a means of social redemption, trade union struggles, and the social consequences of deindustrialization. It aims to reflect on the loss of industrial identity and the impact of territorial transformation, using the factory as a symbol of stability that eventually became a source of social wounding.
