Teatro Villa Pamphilj to host science-themed play ‘L’ombra di Talete’

The theatrical production ‘L’ombra di Talete’ (The Shadow of Thales) is scheduled to perform at Teatro Villa Pamphilj in Rome on Thursday, September 10. Created by Enrico Ferraro, the play features Valeriano Solfiti, music by Carlo Amato, and assistant direction by Valerio Bucci and Anna Maria Piccoli.

The performance explores the life and mathematical insights of Thales, specifically referencing the solar eclipse of 585 BCE and his methods for measuring the height of the Great Pyramid. Through an ‘actor-scientist’ narrator, the production uses lights, music, and scenography to translate complex scientific and mathematical concepts into an accessible theatrical experience.

This production is part of the ‘Science Fiction – la scienza a teatro’ project, an initiative by Effetto Joule Teatro. Developed in collaboration with scientists, educators, and artists, the project aims to use the language of theater to make scientific themes engaging and understandable for the general public and teachers.
