Třebíč opens modern ice arena with star‑studded hockey exhibition

The town of Třebíč inaugurated its newly renovated winter stadium on Saturday, hosting a high‑profile hockey exhibition. The event, dubbed “Stars Return,” featured an exhibition match between the alumni of the local club Horácká Slavia Třebíč and a team of world‑champion players. Mayor Pavel Pacal praised the new venue, saying the city’s long‑standing connection with hockey is now “fantastic” in its modern form.

Fans gathered on Karlovo Square for autograph sessions, a display of the world‑champion trophy and the Czech league champion cup, and a chance to purchase commemorative merchandise. Tickets for the match sold out within one to two days, with forward Martin Dočekal noting the overwhelming demand. The game began at 17:00 in the KHNP arena, showcasing notable players such as Karel Vejmelka and Martin Erat among the alumni, and top talent from the world‑champion side.

The opening ceremony combined sport with music and entertainment, marking the return of full‑scale ice hockey to Třebíč after a two‑year reconstruction period.
