Tebra history book to be presented in Tomiño

The municipality of Tomiño will host the presentation of the book ‘Os castelos de Tebra. Microhistorias dun val transfronteirizo’ on September 3 at the Plaza de Santa María de Tebra. Written by Suso Vila and published by the local Council, the work explores the historical and patrimonial richness of the Tebra parish.

The book features sixteen micro-histories that examine the territory through various perspectives, highlighting its identity as a Miño-based and transborder region. Through extensive research, Vila recovers lesser-known episodes, characters, and aspects of local heritage, weaving together history, landscape, and memory.

Tomiño Mayor Sandra González noted that the publication allows residents to understand the human relationships and connections on both sides of the Miño River that exist behind the area's recognizable stone tower. The book also highlights the roles of women in the region's history, such as María Fernandes de Meira and Juana de Sousa, who helped govern and preserve the local fortress.
