Tech companies invest NT$13 billion in Taichung industrial land
A surge in AI and semiconductor demand has triggered a land acquisition race in Taichung, Taiwan. During the first three quarters of the year, eight listed technology companies invested over NT$13 billion to acquire more than 30,000 pings of industrial land.
Largelight Optoelectronics has been the most aggressive investor, spending over NT$8 billion to purchase seven factory sites between June and September, five of which are located in the Taichung Industrial Park. Other semiconductor-related firms, including Wanrun, Song Sheng, and Wibow Precision, are also expanding their footprints in areas such as the Precision Machinery Technology Park, Taichung Port, Daya, and Dajia.
The expansion is bolstered by major semiconductor players; Micron recently activated its second advanced packaging and testing plant in the Houli District, and TSMC's 1.4nm advanced process plant in the Central Taiwan Science Park is expected to begin production next year. Industry experts note that Taichung's established precision machinery and metal processing supply chains, combined with efficient logistics, are creating a comprehensive industrial cluster for AI, servers, and high-end manufacturing.
