Tech companies pivot to seamless home integration in design

Technology companies are shifting their design focus toward products that integrate more naturally into living spaces as the number of connected devices in households increases. A 2026 survey by Reviews.org indicates that the average American household manages up to 11 connected devices, including smart TVs, robot vacuums, and smart speakers.

At the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) 2026, products were evaluated not just on aesthetics, but on their ability to solve spatial problems and provide user value. LG was a major participant, winning 17 awards. Notable entries included the OLED evo W6, designed to minimize the visual presence of large screens, the Smart Monitor Swing, which offers flexible positioning, and the PuriCare AeroMini, which aims to reduce the physical footprint of home appliances.
