AI adoption drives rapid shifts in Swedish healthcare, tech, and labor privacy

Artificial intelligence is driving significant shifts across various sectors in Sweden, bringing both opportunities and systemic risks. In healthcare, usage is rising rapidly, with 60% of Swedes now using AI services. Experts warn that using non-validated AI for medical advice poses risks to patient safety.

Labor unions LO, TCO, and Saco have issued warnings regarding EU regulatory proposals. They urge the Swedish government to reject measures that would allow AI companies to access personal data under the guise of 'legitimate interest,' fearing it could enable intrusive workplace surveillance.

In the business sector, the tech industry is seeing a recovery, with growth projected between 20% and 27% by 2028, largely driven by AI and cybersecurity. Meanwhile, the travel industry is adapting to AI-driven consumer behavior, as travelers increasingly use AI assistants for personalized planning.

Ethical concerns remain central to the discourse. Right Livelihood award winner Timnit Gebru has criticized the concentration of power within major tech companies, arguing that the primary threat lies in the influence of Silicon Valley leaders rather than the technology itself. Additionally, organizations are being advised to implement clear AI policies to protect sensitive information and ensure human oversight of AI-generated content.
