Tech leaders discuss strategic roles and AI integration in Honduras and Dominican Republic
At the Tech Day Honduras 2026, industry experts discussed the evolving role of the Chief Information Officer (CIO). Panelists Andrea Nicole Cruz of Conatel, Alejandro López of ELEOS S.A., and Diana Baquedano of Universidad Zamorano emphasized that IT has transitioned from a support function to a strategic driver of business transformation. The discussion highlighted that high availability and operational continuity are now vital necessities, and that effective IT leadership requires communicating in business terms to demonstrate how technology resolves financial and operational challenges.
In the Dominican Republic, the upcoming HUMANOS 5.0 International Summit will focus on the impact of artificial intelligence on employment, business competitiveness, and economic development. Organized by the International Academy of Innovation and Technology (AIITEC), the event will feature the presentation of the HUMANOS 5.0 Index to evaluate AI knowledge and leadership competencies. AIITEC President Zoraima Cuello noted that the primary challenge is developing human capabilities to transform AI-driven productivity into societal competitiveness and well-being.
