Tech Stack 2026 report identifies integration as key media challenge

The Tech Stack 2026 study, conducted in France by the Tech Stack association in collaboration with the Sciences Po School of Journalism, reveals that the primary technological challenge for media organizations is no longer a lack of tools, but rather their disconnection.

While newsrooms possess mature platforms for content management, automation, distribution, subscriptions, and analytics, they often operate within fragmented ecosystems. This lack of integration prevents data from flowing naturally between systems, such as from a CMS to a newsletter platform or from payment systems to content recommendation engines. This fragmentation leads to duplicated tasks, manual errors, and reduced efficiency.

The report, which includes 118 contributions from professionals representing media with approximately 5.5 billion monthly page views, indicates that the next competitive leap will depend on creating coherent systems rather than acquiring new software. Key challenges identified include technological integration, the industrialization of artificial intelligence, and managing dependency on major providers.
