DAX holds near 24,800 as oil drops on US‑Iran conflict concerns

European equity markets opened largely flat on Tuesday, with Germany’s DAX edging up to around 24,846 points while the MDAX slipped about 0.5 %. The modest move came as oil prices eased; Brent crude fell below $89 a barrel and WTI slipped to $82, after a brief surge sparked by heightened U.S.–Iran hostilities. Investors cited hopes of mediation in the Middle East, which helped temper the earlier rally in oil. The Euro‑zone inflation slowdown allowed the ECB to keep its policy rate steady, and analysts expect the central bank to pause further hikes for now. Meanwhile, the earnings season is set to test the AI‑driven growth narrative, with tech giants such as Alphabet, IBM and Tesla slated to report later in the week. Market participants remain cautious, watching both the geopolitical developments and the upcoming corporate results for clues on whether the recent market softness will deepen or reverse.
