Technical University of Crete honors Thelma Mavridou

The Technical University of Crete is honoring the memory of Thelma Mavridou, marking five years since her death in a tragic traffic accident on September 2, 2021. Mavridou was a long-standing member of the university community for over 30 years, having joined as a student in 1988 and later serving in various administrative and academic roles, including Head of the Department of Public and International Relations.

To preserve her legacy, the university has implemented several symbolic measures. The Science Building amphitheater has been named the ‘Thelma Mavridou Amphitheater,’ and a mural was created by the School of Architecture. Additionally, the institution’s annual central event has been renamed the ‘Science and Technology Day – Thelma Mavridou,’ with the next occurrence scheduled for November 28, 2026.
