Crete receives major investments for innovation and infrastructure
Development Minister Takis Theodorakis conducted a series of visits to Crete to oversee significant investments and infrastructure projects.
A major focus was the inauguration of the Innovation and Advanced Education Hub at the Foundation for Research and Technology - Hellas (ITE). This facility, supported by public and European funding, aims to strengthen the link between research, innovation, and the real economy. The total investment program for upgrading ITE's infrastructure reaches approximately 60 million euros.
Additionally, the Technical University of Crete is receiving approximately 1.6 million euros for the maintenance and upgrading of its buildings, electromechanical installations, and surrounding green spaces. These works aim to improve accessibility and create a more functional environment for the university community.
In the broader economic context, Theodorakis highlighted that 95 investment projects are currently being implemented across Crete, totaling 270 million euros, with public support exceeding 140 million euros. Notable visits included Plastika Kritis, a major plastic producer, and the Mitsis Rinela hotel, both of which are part of these regional development initiatives.
