Technical University of Moldova expels six students after assault

Six students from the Technical University of Moldova (UTM) College have been expelled without the right to re-enroll following an incident on September 24 in Chișinău. The students are accused of assaulting and humiliating a 19-year-old man.

The university announced the decision on October 15, noting that the actions of the Professional Council and the Ethics and Professional Deontology Commission were based on the severity of the acts and violations of ethical and moral conduct norms. The six suspects were placed in preventive detention for 30 days starting September 25.

UTM stated it has provided professional psychological assistance to the victim and is working with relevant authorities to ensure their reintegration into the community. The institution also organized information sessions regarding bullying and condemned the public dissemination of images related to the incident, citing the risk of re-traumatizing the victim.
