Technics announces limited-edition SL-1210GAE for SL-1200 55th anniversary

Technics has announced the SL-1210GAE, a limited-edition turntable celebrating the 55th anniversary of the iconic SL-1200 series. The commemorative model features gold-accented details, including a gold-anodized S-shaped aluminum tonearm, a gold-finished tonearm base, and a platter with a gold-colored rim and strobe marks.

Built on the Grand Class engineering platform, the unit includes high-density die-cast zinc isolation feet with GEL inserts to enhance analog character. Each turntable will be individually marked with an engraved anniversary badge and serial number. The design is based on the SL-1200 MK7 DJ, featuring a digitally controlled single-rotor direct drive, a vertical pitch fader with a 16 percent range, and a Reverse Play mode.

The release is limited to 12,000 units globally and is expected to be available in seven colors: gold, blue, red, black, green, white, and grey. A global release is planned for September 2026, with pricing details to be announced closer to the launch date.
