Technip Energies wins EPC contract for HPCL refinery modernization
Technip Energies has secured a major engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) for the Lube Modernization and Bottom Upgradation (LMBU) project at the Mumbai Refinery in Maharashtra, India.
The contract involves the construction of an integrated hydrocracker and catalytic dewaxing (IHCD) unit with a capacity of 550,000 tons per year, alongside a solvent deasphalting (SDA) unit with a capacity of 850,000 tons per year. These units will be integrated into the existing refinery to enhance the production of lube oil base stocks used in automotive engine oils and industrial lubricants. The project also aims to process heavier refinery streams into higher-value products to improve resource efficiency.
Technip Energies classifies this as a large contract, representing revenue between €250 million and €500 million. The order is expected to be recorded in the company’s Project Delivery segment backlog in Q3 2026.
