Techniques for catching and preparing Bigfin Reef Squid

New methods for surf eging, a fishing technique for Bigfin Reef Squid, are being highlighted through the NOTOMON brand. Using the SwimMaster 3.1F floating egi, anglers can target squid in shallow surf areas by simply reeling the lure without the traditional jerking motion. This method allows the lure to swim in an S-shaped pattern, making it easier to explore ultra-shallow waters that are typically difficult to access with standard sinking lures.

For the preparation of caught squid, a simplified method for dispatching the animal involves using a rubber hammer. By striking the area between the eyes with a single firm blow, the squid's color will rapidly turn white, indicating a successful dispatch. This technique is recommended to maintain freshness and texture, as immediate dispatch prevents the animal from struggling and hardening the meat. After dispatching, it is advised to place the squid in a bag within a cooler to prevent ink leakage and avoid direct contact with ice or fresh water to preserve quality.
