Technological automation threatens 85 million jobs globally
The World Economic Forum predicts that 85 million jobs could disappear over a five-year period due to technological advancement and the replacement of human labor by machines. While this shift poses risks, it is also expected to create 97 million new positions driven by increased economic productivity.
However, these new roles will require higher educational standards. McKinsey suggests that 90% of the workforce will need retraining in new technologies over the next decade. Failure to invest in professional training could lead to increased inequality.
In Brazil, studies indicate a significant skills gap. Research by the CNI shows that 90% of construction companies struggle to find qualified professionals. Additionally, a broader study of 1,616 companies found that 70% of small and medium enterprises and 63% of large companies face shortages of qualified workers, directly impacting industrial competitiveness.
