Technology adoption in Brazil: AI in agribusiness and ERP integration
Artificial intelligence is expanding its role in the Brazilian agribusiness sector, moving beyond autonomous machinery to include administrative decision-making, cost inconsistency identification, and customer service automation. However, executives from TOTVS noted during the Universo TOTVS 2026 event that successful implementation depends heavily on organized, high-quality data and security protocols. Fabrício Orrigo, executive director of products at TOTVS, emphasized that without a structured data base, AI may provide incorrect information and misleading directions.
In the broader corporate landscape, there is a significant shift from manual spreadsheets to integrated management systems (ERP). While a FGVcia survey indicates that 91% of medium and large private companies in Brazil already utilize ERP systems, Sebrae highlights that these tools have become increasingly accessible to smaller businesses through cloud technology. ERP systems centralize data across sales, finance, and inventory, helping to reduce operational silos and increase productivity, with reports suggesting high success rates in efficiency gains for users.
