Technology sector updates: HONOR software rollout and HMD strategic shifts

Several developments are occurring within the consumer technology sector. HONOR has announced a global rollout of its MagicOS 11 system, based on Android 17. The update process is scheduled to run from October 2026 through March 2027, covering flagship models like the Magic V6 and Magic8 Pro, as well as mid-range devices and tablets.

In a strategic shift, HMD is reportedly re-evaluating its global presence. The company may scale down its global device portfolio to focus on specific regional markets and the enterprise or industrial sectors, with no further global device releases expected for the remainder of the year.

In the wearables market, Huawei has reduced the price of its Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 sports smartwatch. Originally priced at 399 euros, the titanium-built device is now available for approximately 300 euros.

Additionally, Apple’s App Store has seen an influx of high-quality indie games this October, including titles such as Sifu and No Man’s Sky, enhancing the iPhone’s capabilities as a mobile gaming platform.
