Technology transforms fashion through 3D design and digital printing

Technological advancements are reshaping the fashion industry through digital design, advanced printing, and sustainable materials. At the Nextech event by Colombiatex in Medellín, exhibitors demonstrated how artificial intelligence, 3D modeling, and automation are being integrated into the fashion system.

Companies like Browzwear are utilizing 3D technology to move the garment creation process into digital environments, allowing brands to model, fit, and modify designs before physical production begins. Similarly, Epson is promoting textile sublimation technology, which uses heat and pressure to transfer digital designs onto fabrics. This method allows for complex illustrations and gradients to be integrated directly into the fibers, offering small brands the flexibility to produce short series and work on demand without high overhead costs.

The industry is also exploring new materials derived from agro-industrial waste and tools for improved traceability and digital commerce.
