Technology transforms urban management in Latin American cities

Technological advancements are reshaping urban management across Latin America and the Caribbean, where over 80% of the population resides in cities. The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) emphasizes a human-centric approach to 'Smart Cities,' utilizing sensors, the Internet of Things (IoT), and digital platforms to address challenges such as traffic congestion, pollution, insecurity, and climate change vulnerability.

In Colombia, Asocapitales has launched the 'Casa Digital de las Ciudades Capitales,' an integrated digital platform designed to strengthen territorial analysis. The platform consolidates data from 32 capital cities, featuring over 120 indicators and 10 data analysis dashboards. A key component is Aria, an artificial intelligence tool that allows users to query, compare, and analyze strategic urban information using natural language.
