TECNO and Safaricom partner to expand 5G smartphone access in Kenya

TECNO and Safaricom have entered a partnership to increase the accessibility of 5G-enabled smartphones in Kenya. The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between expanding high-speed network infrastructure and consumer access to compatible hardware.

As part of the initiative, the TECNO POVA Curve 2 5G will be available at a discounted price of KES 44,999 from 21 September to 31 October 2026, representing a reduction of KES 11,000 from its standard retail price. The device features an 8,000mAh battery, 45W fast charging, and a MediaTek Dimensity 7100 processor.

This move aligns with the Communications Authority of Kenya’s identification of affordable device access as a critical factor for 5G adoption, alongside spectrum availability and infrastructure investment. The partnership is intended to support Kenya’s broader digital transformation agenda by enabling more users to utilize high-speed connectivity for business, communication, and digital services.
