Ted Cruz and Larry Kudlow criticize Medicare for All
During an interview on Fox News, Senator Ted Cruz and host Larry Kudlow discussed the potential economic and social implications of Medicare for All. Kudlow characterized the policy as a “quintessential socialist platform” that could lead to a state takeover of the economy and argued that approximately 160 million Americans with employer-based insurance would lose their current coverage. He estimated the cost of the program could exceed $50 trillion over ten years.
Senator Cruz addressed why Democratic-led states, such as California, have not implemented socialized medicine despite having the political power to do so. Cruz claimed that state leaders have examined the policy and concluded it would “destroy the economy,” cause significant economic damage, and drive small businesses and job creators out of those states to locations like Texas.
