Ted Cruz appearance on ESPN sparks criticism from Jemele Hill

Former ESPN host Jemele Hill criticized the network on social media following an appearance by Senator Ted Cruz on ‘College GameDay’. Hill characterized the network as a ‘political lobbying firm’ in response to the segment.

Senator Cruz appeared on the program to discuss the ‘Save College Sports Act’, a bipartisan bill he co-authored. During the discussion, Cruz addressed the financial challenges facing college athletic programs, warning that without the legislation, many schools might be forced to cancel women’s programs and non-revenue sports to avoid financial collapse.

The comments from Hill drew criticism from media personalities such as OutKick’s Jon Root, who accused Hill of hypocrisy, noting her previous tenure at the network involved discussions of political ideologies.
