Ted Cruz warns of communist and Islamist alliance in Democratic Party

During the Republican midterm convention, Senator Ted Cruz warned of a “new and dangerous red-green alliance” within the Democratic Party. Cruz argued that communists and Islamists are uniting through a shared opposition to Christianity, Judaism, capitalism, the U.S. Constitution, and the United States.

Republican speakers, including House Majority Whip Tom Emmer and former President Donald Trump, utilized similar rhetoric to characterize the Democratic Party as being overtaken by communists and anarchists. The convention messaging frequently targeted specific Muslim politicians, such as Zohran Mamdani, Ilhan Omar, and Abdul El-Sayed, linking them to themes of socialism and radicalism. Emmer described the upcoming elections as a choice between “common sense” and communism, while Trump argued that the Democratic platform has moved beyond socialism into communism.
