Ted Cruz warns progressive rise is stalling bipartisan energy reform

Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas, warned at an energy affordability summit that the rise of progressive influence within the Democratic Party is hindering bipartisan cooperation. Speaking at an event hosted by the Club for Growth and Arnold Ventures, Cruz suggested that fear of the “extreme left” is paralyzing legislative efforts, specifically regarding permitting reform.

Cruz identified New York City Mayor Mamdani as the “single most powerful Democrat in the country” and claimed that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is “truly terrified” by the current political shift. He characterized the movement as a “revolution” driven by activists and interest groups.

The summit also addressed energy policy, with discussions focusing on how reducing regulatory red tape could expand domestic energy projects. Energy Secretary Chris Wright noted that regulatory hurdles have historically limited the expansion of nuclear energy, a sector that currently shows potential for bipartisan support.
