Jason Sudeikis Returns to Ted Lasso After Declining $1M Per Episode

Jason Sudeikis, co‑creator and star of Apple TV+'s comedy "Ted Lasso," explained that he initially refused to film a fourth season despite being offered a $1 million‑per‑episode salary. He said the story had already been told with Ted returning to Kansas City to be with his son, and he did not want to “uproot” the character for money.

Sudeikis changed his mind after fans told him the series had helped them, saying, “It saved me, too.” He confirmed the series will return for a fourth season on August 5, 2026, with a new premise: Ted will coach a second‑division women’s football team. Several original cast members—including Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein and Brendan Hunt—are returning, while some characters from earlier seasons will not appear. Production faced a one‑month delay but stayed within budget.

The actor also noted he personally called former cast members to break the news, emphasizing respect for their contributions. While Apple has not yet ordered a fifth season, Sudeikis expressed hope to develop storylines for additional seasons.
