Ted Lasso season 4 breaks Apple TV+ viewership records

The fourth season of the Apple TV+ series ‘Ted Lasso’ has achieved record-breaking viewership, becoming the most-watched premiere in the platform's history. According to Nielsen data, the first episode accumulated approximately 296.6 million minutes viewed during its launch window in the United States.

In this new season, the character Ted Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, returns to England to coach a second-division women’s soccer team for AFC Richmond. The plot follows Ted after a three-year hiatus in Kansas City, where he was convinced to return by former colleagues Rebecca Welton, Keeley Jones, and Leslie Higgins.

The season consists of 10 episodes, with new installments scheduled to release weekly through early October. Beyond entertainment metrics, the series has drawn academic interest; researchers from the Queensland University of Technology have noted that the character’s optimistic, autonomy-focused coaching style reflects real-world shifts in high-performance sports leadership.
