Ted Lasso slated for a fifth season, Apple TV+ programming chief says

Apple TV+ programming head Matt Cherniss told Deadline that star Jason Sudeikis is already planning the next chapter of the comedy series Ted Lasso, confirming that a fifth season is in the works. While the streaming service has not issued an official renewal, Cherniss said production on the fourth season is underway and the team intends to begin the fifth soon.

The fourth season is set to premiere on August 5, 2024, with weekly releases through early October. In the new season, Ted returns to Richmond to coach a women’s second‑division soccer team, a storyline confirmed by the show's official synopsis. The main cast – including Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift – will reprise their roles, joined by newcomers such as Tanya Reynolds and Jude Mack. No formal announcement about the fifth season has been made by Apple TV+ yet.
