Teddy Atlas criticizes judging in Lopez vs. Romero title fight

Boxing commentator and trainer Teddy Atlas has criticized the judging of the WBA welterweight title fight between Teofimo Lopez and Rolando Romero. Lopez secured a majority decision victory at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, becoming a three-division world champion, but the scoring has sparked significant debate.

Atlas specifically targeted judge Glenn Feldman, who submitted a 114-114 scorecard. While the other two judges scored the bout in favor of Lopez (115-113 and 116-112), Feldman’s draw resulted in a majority decision rather than a unanimous one. Atlas expressed strong disapproval on his YouTube channel, suggesting that Feldman’s assessment warranted the revocation of his judging license, comparing the situation to a driver losing their license for reckless driving.

In contrast to his criticism of Feldman, Atlas praised judge Tim Cheatham for his 116-112 scorecard. Romero, who was returning to the ring after 15 months of inactivity, expressed belief that he had done enough to retain his title despite the loss.
