Tedi Blushi denounces isolation of Ilir Meta in Albanian prison

Tedi Blushi, General Secretary of the Freedom Party (Partia e Lirisë), has denounced the extreme isolation of party leader Ilir Meta, alleging that prison administration is blocking meetings between Meta and party deputies.

Blushi claims that despite special permissions issued by SPAK, deputies have been repeatedly prevented from meeting Meta for approximately one week without any legal justification or written documentation. He characterized these actions as a flagrant violation of the Constitution, the European Convention on Human Rights, and recommendations from both the Ombudsman and the Albanian Helsinki Committee.

Blushi further alleged that these restrictions are a direct order from Prime Minister Edi Rama intended to exert pressure on Meta and the Freedom Party. He asserted that the ongoing judicial process lacks criminal evidence or proof of illegal wealth, describing the situation as a political farce. The matter has reportedly been referred to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
