Teelah Cooper case adjourned in Beaumont Street murder investigation

Teelah Cooper, 30, has seen her court proceedings adjourned once again in the Beaumont Street murder case. Cooper faces charges of being an accessory after the fact to murder and concealing a serious offence. She is accused of driving a suspect away from the scene of a deadly stabbing, selling the vehicle, and fleeing to Queensland.

During a hearing at Newcastle Local Court, defense solicitor Melissa Huseyin requested a two-week adjournment to allow for a final meeting with Cooper to resolve an outstanding issue regarding her plea. The court was informed that while there is an “in principle agreement” regarding which charges will proceed, a specific dispute remains.

Judge Caleb Franklin noted the significant delays in the case, which has been ongoing for nearly two years, though an affidavit filed by the defense indicated that these delays were not entirely attributable to Cooper.
