Teen arrested in Lecce after attacking mother with a chair

A 15‑year‑old boy from Lecce was arrested by the State Police after he violently assaulted his mother during an argument. The youth threw tongs at her, struck her with a chair, and caused bruising on her arm before fleeing the apartment with his younger sister. Police found the teen inside the chaotic flat and took him to a detention centre pending a court hearing. The victim reported a pattern of ongoing physical and psychological abuse by the son, which had forced her to lock herself in a bedroom at night for safety. The minor was already under a criminal investigation for similar behaviour and was deemed socially dangerous.

The case highlights concerns about family violence and juvenile delinquency in the Apulia region.
