Teen Cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi Joins Indian Squad, Tax Issue Highlighted

Fifteen‑year‑old Vaibhav Suryavanshi impressed with explosive batting in the IPL, recording the fastest Indian century in 2025, the most sixes in a season (72) and earning the Orange Cap with 776 runs in 16 matches. His performances earned him a place in India’s senior T20 squad for series against Ireland and England and inclusion in the 2026 Asian Games roster. India’s chief selector Ajit Agarkar and coach Santosh Pingulkar praised his maturity, power hitting and potential as a major asset for the national team.

Because Suryavanshi is a minor, his earnings from cricket are treated as his own income rather than being clubbed with his parents’ tax returns. Under Indian income‑tax rules, the parents file the tax return on his behalf, making his tax status a focal point of public discussion.
