Abington, Massachusetts teen killed in stolen SUV crash
A 17-year-old driver was killed and four other teenagers were hospitalized after a stolen Hyundai SUV crashed into a tree on Washington Street in Abington, Massachusetts, on Wednesday morning. Police had been pursuing the vehicle after it was reported stolen, and the chase lasted several minutes before the SUV left the roadway and struck a tree at approximately 7:45 a.m.
The driver, a resident of Weymouth, was pinned inside the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. One female passenger was ejected from the car and suffered serious injuries, while the remaining three passengers, two boys and another girl, incurred life‑threatening injuries and were taken to local hospitals. Abington Police Chief John Bonney and Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz confirmed the investigation is ongoing, with the pursuing officer placed on leave.
