14‑Year‑Old Drowns in Drava River Near Gornji Hrašćan, Croatia

On 13 June 2026, a 14‑year‑old boy drowned in the old riverbed of the Drava near Gornji Hrašćan, Croatia. Police received a missing‑person report at 12:15 and immediately launched a search involving police officers, emergency medical teams, the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service, the public fire brigade, drones and divers. Divers recovered the boy’s body at 14:20, and the post‑mortem examination found no signs of violence, confirming death by drowning.

Police expressed condolences to the family and issued a public safety warning, urging citizens to swim only at designated, supervised bathing sites, to avoid unknown waters, strong currents, swimming alone, alcohol and to supervise children closely. The school of the victim posted a farewell message, highlighting the community’s grief.
