Teen shootings in Argentina result in death and serious injury
A 16‑year‑old boy was killed by gunfire in the Confluencia neighbourhood of Neuquén, Argentina, after receiving shots to the head and chest. Authorities say the killing follows months of threats directed at the victim’s family and a prior family feud. Police detained another 16‑year‑old suspect and conducted raids on the victim’s home and relatives’ residences.
In a separate incident in the southern part of Buenos Aires, an 18‑year‑old known as “Chanchín” was shot in the back during a chase after a confrontation with a group of men. A 46‑year‑old father and his 23‑year‑old son, who pursued the victim on a motorcycle, were ordered to remain in preventive detention for 59 days on charges of aggravated homicide by firearm. The victim remains hospitalized in serious condition.
Both cases underscore a pattern of youth‑targeted gun violence and ongoing investigations by Argentine prosecutors.
