Teen Zafran Ramadhan Selani Drowns in Jakarta's Ciliwung River

Fourteen‑year‑old Zafran Ramadhan Selani drowned while swimming with four friends in the Ciliwung River at Lenteng Agung, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta on Thursday, 30 July 2026 at about 15:00 local time. The Jakarta Search and Rescue (SAR) office, led by SAR Mission Coordinator Desiana Kartika Bahari, mobilised Unit Siaga SAR Bekasi together with the Pasar Rebo fire department, BPBD Jakarta Selatan, Babinsa Koramil 03 Cijantung and local residents. The teams focused on visual inspection and systematic sweeping of the river area while prioritising the safety of personnel. The search continued into Friday, 31 July 2026.
